Sara Heath has been announced as the new Chief Executive of Pentathlon GB, to take the sport forward to Tokyo 2020 and beyond.

Sara will take the strategic lead of the National Governing Body from today (11th February 2019) and will guide the sport through the Senior European Championships in Bath this summer, the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 and into the next Olympic Cycle.

Sara brings a wealth of leadership experience, having held senior positions across a range of public and private sector organisations, most recently as Managing Director of Elfinn Consultancy, a Sport and Communications organisation. Sara is currently a Non Executive of British Triathlon Federation and British Shooting. At British Triathlon she has helped to oversee an engagement programme which recognises the work of the organisation’s volunteers.

Having been involved with a number of sports in both high performance and grass roots, Sara’s broad perspective of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector will be invaluable to developing Pentathlon GB.

Commenting on her recent appointment, Sara said: "I am hugely excited to be joining the team at Pentathlon GB. With a fantastic European Championships being held at the home of Pentathlon GB this August and 527 days to the Olympic Games there is so much to be positive about in Pentathlon and I look forward to building on the tremendous progress made so far."

David Armstrong, Pentathlon GB Chairman, added “I am very excited to welcome Sara to Pentathlon GB at such a crucial time for the sport – she was the stand out candidate from a strong field. Her strong commercial background combined with her excellent relationships across the UK Sport family will be very important for our sport. “

"On behalf of myself and the Board, I would also like to thank Stuart Mason for his huge commitment as Interim CEO alongside all his other duties. He has kept the organisation firmly on track as we prepare for an exciting summer with the Senior European Championships in August.”
