BRITISH EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION

INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS x3

Head Office in Kenilworth, Warwickshire

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) is the National Governing Body for horse sports in the UK. It is the umbrella organisation which represents the interests of 2.7 million people involved with horses in Great Britain, via 19 independent member bodies.

Funding from UK Sport and Sport England supports the BEF's work from developing the Olympic and Paralympic, World and European Championship medal winners, to encouraging growth in participation of people getting involved in the various disciplines of the sport. It exists to provide leadership, vision and purpose, in steering the direction of equestrianism.

Equestrian Team GBR has achieved multi medal winning success at recent Olympic and Paralympic Games across Showjumping, Eventing, Dressage and Para-Equestrian Dressage. It is a major contributor to the success of UK Sport, with many world-class athletes successfully coming through the highly regarded Equestrian World Class Programme.

The BEF now has the exciting opportunity to recruit and welcome three new independent Non-Executive Directors (INEDs) to the Board. One of the positions requires a senior Independent NED with significant Board experience, governance and managerial expertise. The second role requires an INED with finance expertise and an accounting qualification, who will chair the audit committee, whilst the third role will require an individual with good general Board experience and knowledge of sport governance, who will chair the remuneration committee. The Board works with the CEO and Independent Chair to determine and guide the vision and strategy for the organisation.

The ideal candidates will possess a passion for sport, be able to demonstrate strong business/organisational acumen, show a good understanding of governance and will be able to demonstrate the ability to act collegiately, working with stakeholders in the best interests of the organisation and member bodies. Board meetings are normally held at the head office and are likely to be five to six per year.
