Director

Daryl graduated with a sport degree from the University of Northumbria and spent a couple of years as an exercise physiologist, including pioneering one of the first medical referral schemes for exercise in the UK. He then moved into the commercial health club sector as a club owner and operator and subsequently moved into executive search, where he has enjoyed 19 exciting and successful years.

Daryl’s experience in executive search enables him to provide a particularly high level of specialist knowledge within the sport sector, whilst he has also forged longstanding client relationships and experience within practice areas such as automotive, consumer, finance and Board.

Daryl’s passion and knowledge of the sporting world, in addition to his ability in the executive search profession, combine to make him the search partner of choice for a number of organisations across the sporting landscape. A former international swimmer, Daryl recently returned to Masters competition and has a strong understanding of the people infrastructure needed to achieve both corporate and sporting success.

Kate has over 25 years experience operating across the sport and media sectors as a sesasoned headhunter and researcher. Prior to founding Hartmann Mason in 2013, she worked as a Director within the Media & Technology practice of another global search firm, where she successfully recruited for businesses across Europe.

In addition to recruiting in the sports sector, she also operates as a trusted independent interviewer for organisations appointing Board level talent. Clients value her proficiency in questioning candidates effectively during interviews, uncovering crucial insights, mitigating risks and assessing cultural fit. 

As a member of 'Women on Boards', 'Women in Sport' and 'Women in Football', Kate is committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity in the sports sector. She has been instrumental at championing the introduction and appointment of more women into Board positions.
